Built for life.
With 14 years' experience delivering high quality renovations and new home builds - carpenter Alex Bourke reached out to me to create a presence for his new company Epoch Built.

Start with Why
To uncover the core purpose of Epoch Built, I facilitated a Golden Circle workshop with founder Alex Bourke. This strategic session aimed to delve into three fundamental questions:
- Why: Understanding the driving force behind Alex's commitment to construction.
- How: Identifying the unique methods and approaches that set Epoch Built apart.
- What: Defining the specific services and products offered.
During the workshop, Alex expressed a profound passion for creating homes that are both enduring and enriching for their inhabitants. This dual focus led to the development of the slogan "Built for life", signifying:
- Built for Life: Constructing homes with superior quality that stand the test of time.
- Built for Life: Designing spaces that enhance the daily lives of those who reside in them.
This clarity of purpose not only informed the brand's messaging but also influenced the overall design and service approach of Epoch Built.

Brand Attributes
Building upon the insights from our Golden Circle workshop, we collaborated with Alex Bourke to define Epoch Built's core brand attributes. These attributes are pivotal in guiding the company's identity, messaging, and design direction, ensuring a consistent and authentic experience across all client interactions.
- Commitment to Customers: Ensuring that every project is approached with the client’s needs at the forefront, fostering trust and strong relationships.
- Attention to Detail: Delivering meticulous craftsmanship in every aspect of a project to ensure high-quality and lasting builds.
- Environment: Integrating eco-friendly materials and sustainable building practices to create healthier and more responsible spaces.
- Trust & Transparency: Prioritizing open and honest communication, keeping clients informed and involved throughout the building process.
These attributes, as highlighted on the Epoch Built website, are a direct reflection of the company's mission to "build homes for life." They influence every aspect of the business, from design decisions to client interactions, ensuring Epoch Built stands out in the construction industry for its commitment to quality, sustainability, and customer satisfaction.
Visual Design
Logo
The word “Epoch” refers to a distinct period in time, often marking the beginning of something new. This led to a logo concept that symbolises a foundational reference point—an archway. The arch is a timeless architectural element, found in ancient ruins, classical architecture, and modern structures alike. It represents both strength and transition, mirroring the journey of homeowners as they move through different life stages.
Geometric and balanced, reinforcing precision and craftsmanship. Rooted in historical forms, subtly linking the past, present, and future. Simple yet strong, ensuring versatility across digital and print applications.
Colour
I developed a colour system that aligns with Epoch Built’s core brand attributes, ensuring the visual identity reinforces its mission. Each colour was chosen to reflect a key value.
